So, there is a lot of
hype in the beauty world right now around the Naked 2 palette by Urban Decay.
| Look at it, in all of its glory!!! |
The original Naked palette is pretty much viewed as a holy grail item to the
cosmetically obsessed (such as myself) because of its mix of neutral shades and
various finishes. I have to admit, when I realized that the Naked 2 palette
even existed, I went right to Urban Decay’s website. Of course, it was sold
out. I signed up to be alerted when more were in stock, which is a great thing
and I love when companies do that! When I got the email, a small part of me
felt like it was Christmas morning. I momentarily lost all self-control and
hopped right onto the net to place my order. A few days later and BAM, my Naked
1 and 2 palettes could meet. Here is my review and comparison.

At first glance, the
color selection in the two palettes seems very similar. The N2 palette has more
cool tones, such as taupe-shades. However, it does still have some bronze and
gold selections, as well as a highlight shade and black shadow as well.

The names of the shades
in the palettes are as follows: foxy, half baked, bootycall, chopper, tease,
snakebite, suspect, pistol, verve, ydk, busted, and blackout. I picked out just a few of the eye shadows to
go into further detail about. Foxy is the lightest
shade, and has a matte finish. Honestly, it blends right into my skin tone, so
it doesn't show up. It may be good for someone with a darker skin tone than
mine though, or I might use it to blend out other colors. The jury is still out
on this color. Half Baked is a golden bronzed tone, and is repeated from the
previous Naked palette. Like most of the shadows, it applies very pigmented and
seems almost creamy in texture. YDK is a very pretty purple-ish and taupe-ish
color. My problem is that it’s a bit crumbly and has that glitter fall out that
you need to be careful with. The original Naked palette had a shade with this
issue too though.

Overall, I do like the
quality and color selection of the palette. Is it an essential for me on TOP of
the original Naked palette? No way. But, if you don’t have either palette I
would highly suggest making the investment in one of them. I use my Naked
palette every day, and I love the wide variety of looks you can create with
just one slender palette. It’s easy for traveling, and it’s a great value if
you break down the price of the palette vs. the price of buying each full-sized
eye shadow.
If you're in the market for one of these palettes, I definitely give my seal of approval!
